Texans still traveling despite high travel prices
According to a survey by AAA Travel, nearly 5.2 million Texans are believed to go on the road during those crucial two weeks of Christmas and New Year's.
This is a 1% increase from last year's numbers. AAA expects more than 86% or 4.5 million people to travel by car and 446,000 will fly. Lastly, about 260,000 Texans will travel by cruise, bus or train.
Retail gasoline prices this week rose to the highest of the season, just after three weeks of price decreases. Statewide prices for gas compared to nationwide prices are holding strong at $2.85 a gallon and $2.99 a gallon respectively.
